‘Helping People Experience God’ is at the heart of your local christian church which meets here in the heart of Balgownie.
Illawarra Church of Christ is a bible believing family church that has a strong belief that God calls us to be a place where ‘everyone is welcome’ and you can find a friendly, caring, welcoming church community.
Our service is on Sunday mornings at 10am at the Balgownie Community Hall, 113 Balgownie Road, Balgownie.

Read below to discover what to expect when you visit.
Sunday Service 10am
You will enter into a hall and join with 40-60 others. (We are small, friendly and growing.) You meet people of a variety of ages and cultures: a few families with young kids, an increasing number of teenagers, and the rest ranging from 22-92.
The service goes from 10am-11am and is followed by a morning tea. (Morning tea is great to get to know people but we understand if you need to leave straight away.)
The service is:
60 minutes long
Contemporary and uplifting music with the occasional older song. You can listen to songs from our current playlist here.
15-20 minute bible-based practical message. (Remember you hear a recent message here.)
Times of prayer
Communion (with a gluten free option) lead by members of the congregation.
Has a children’s ministry. Young children are able to sit with parents or be looked after by our children’s ministry. (Everybody working with children must have a current ‘Working with Children’ certificate and we always ensure there are two adults present.)
After the service we connect with one another over morning tea and then some of us go off for lunch together.
On the first Sunday of the month we have ‘Soup Sunday’ as our morning tea which is often cooked by our Youth and Young Adults.
Most Sundays a group will go for lunch at a local club. One of our favourites is Corrimal Bowling club from 11.45am.
